Fulham vs Liverpool predictions: Reds to roar into yet another final
- Fulham are looking to reach just their second domestic cup final
- Liverpool are record 13-time finalists and have won the cup nine times
- Recommended bet: Liverpool win & Over 1.5 goals
Fulham are one match away from their first League Cup final, while Liverpool are aiming to reach their 14th, and the Merseyside powers are strongly fancied.
Jurgen Klopp’s men, 2-1 up from the first leg at Anfield, are 7/10 with LiveScore Bet to win the second leg at Craven Cottage in 90 minutes and 1/11 to qualify for yet another final.
The Cottagers recent home form is encouraging them to think they can defy the odds — but they have not beaten Liverpool at home in any of their last five meetings.
Team news
Marco Silva is set to name a similar line-up to the starting XI beaten 1-0 at Chelsea, with apparently no new injury worries.
The Fulham boss is without, however, key defender Calvin Bassey and ace midfielder Alex Iwobi, both on international duty.
Liverpool are still without Mohamed Salah, who is injured after returning from the Africa Cup of Nations. Trent Alexander-Arnold is also missing through injury.
Wataru Endo is also away on international duty, while Andrew Robertson, Kostas Tsimikas, Joel Matip and Thiago Alcantara are still out. Curtis Jones limped away from Bournemouth on Sunday but Dominik Szoboszlai could be fit.
The stats
Fulham have opened the scoring in all five of their League Cup ties during their run to the semis.
The Cottagers have not drawn any of their last 11 home games, winning five of the last six.
Liverpool have found the net in all 16 of their away fixtures this season and have scored at least twice in 11 of them.
The Reds have won just two of their last 10 League Cup ties played in London, but have progressed to the final on eight of the nine occasions when they won the first leg.
Prediction
If Fulham had any doubts whether Liverpool could cope on the road minus Salah, Alexander-Arnold and a first-choice left-back, then Sunday’s 4-0 drubbing of Bournemouth would have cleared that one up.
The Cherries had been in good form but Klopp’s Premier League leaders played them off the park, with Darwin Nunez and Diogo Jota filling in manfully for Salah with a brace apiece.
That sets them up nicely for the trip to Craven Cottage where Liverpool have a 2-1 lead to defend but they will not be parking the bus. It is not their style.
Fulham have been impressive in their run to the semis, pipping both Tottenham and Everton in shoot-outs, and deservedly taking the lead at Anfield in the first leg.
They had chances to extend their lead, did not take them and were punished, and by the end were happy to hang on to just a one-goal deficit.
That means that notionally they are very much in this tie but it is very hard to see Fulham scoring the two or more goals they will probably need, with it far easier to see Liverpool picking them off on the counter.
