New threads

Arsenal's Women's Super League stars will strut their stuff in an away kit designed by Stella McCartney.

The collaboration between the Gunners, sportswear giants adidas and the fashion icon boasts "a striking fusion of bold geometric patterns, accentuated by the captivating hues of halo pink and soft pastel glow blue".

Released today, the limited edition strips are available to buy at Arsenal stores, select retailers and online

Striker Alessia Russo said: "It's incredible that it's our own women's kit.

"I think it's so important and inspirational for young girls and everyone out there to know the women in this club are super valued."

Jonas Eidevall's side begin their 2023-24 WSL campaign against Liverpool at the Emirates on Sunday.

Chilly blow

Chelsea face an anxious wait to learn the full extent of Ben Chilwell's latest injury.

The England left-back, 26, left the pitch towards the end of his side's 1-0 victory over Brighton in the Carabao Cup last night.

And Blues boss Mauricio Pochettino suggested his vice-captain had picked up a fresh hamstring issue.

Speaking after the game, Poch said: "We need to assess but I think it was his hamstring."

Should Chilwell require time out, he will join captain Reece James, Romeo Lavia, Christopher Nkunku, Carney Chukwuemeka, Trevoh Chalobah, Benoit Badiashile, Wesley Fofana and Marcus Bettinelli on the sidelines.

Gunner score loads

Jonas Eidevall is confident Alessia Russo will score plenty of goals as Arsenal challenge for Women's Super League glory.

Lionesses star Russo, 24, traded Manchester United for the Gunners during the summer and her new boss cannot wait to see her bulging the net in England's top flight.

Speaking to Sky Sports, the Arsenal boss said: "I'm obviously delighted to get a top talent like Alessia into the club.

"I see her as a complete forward, she can do all the things you want a No9 to do. One thing that strikes me after working with her is she has amazing finishing quality.

"It strengthens my belief that she's someone we can develop into a player that scores a lot of goals in the league. Over time, I'm confident that will happen."

Fenway sell minority stake

Fenway Sports Group have sold a minority stake in Liverpool to global sports investment firm Dynasty Equity.

FSG president Mike Gordon said: "Our long-term commitment to Liverpool remains as strong as ever.

"We have always said that if there is an investment partner that is right for Liverpool we would pursue the opportunity to help ensure the club’s long-term financial resiliency and future growth.

"We look forward to building upon the long-standing relationship with Dynasty to further strengthen the club’s financial position and sustain our ambitions for continued success on and off the pitch."

Under the knife

Real Madrid midfielder Caroline Weir will undergo surgery after suffering an ACL injury.

Weir, 28, was hurt when she stretched for a challenge during Scotland's Nations League clash with Belgium earlier this week.

After trying to play on, she was eventually forced off the field 20 minutes in.

A statement on Real's website said: "Following tests carried out on Caroline, she has been diagnosed with a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament in her left knee."

Weir added on social media: "Absolutely gutted to be sidelined for a long period of time but I will focus on coming back stronger and putting everything into my rehab.

"I know there will be difficult moments coming up but I've also been lucky up until now to have never had a serious injury, so I also have a lot to be grateful for."
