Haaland loses head

Erling Haaland faces possible disciplinary action for a social media post in the aftermath of Manchester City's 3-3 draw with Tottenham on Sunday.

The Norwegian striker looked to have played Jack Grealish through on goal in the dying seconds, only for referee Simon Hooper to blow his whistle for a foul committed in the build-up.

Haaland, 23, was left furious at the decision and stormed off the pitch at full-time, taking to online platform X to vent his frustrations.

He reposted a video of the incident with the caption "Wtf" and was one of many City players to express their displeasure.

City boss Pep Guardiola said: "It's normal. His reaction was the same for 10 players.

"The rules are you cannot talk with the referees or fourth officials, so we should have had 10 players sent off today.

"He's a little bit disappointed. If the referee played for Man City today he would be disappointed for that action, that's for sure."

Marathon not a sprint

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta says his side face a "huge marathon" to try and dethrone Premier League champions Manchester City.

The Gunners sit two points clear at the top of the table after Pep Guardiola's side were held by Tottenham on Sunday but the Spaniard insists he is not interested by what the Treble winners are doing.

He said: "I think about how we're going to play better tomorrow and be more consistent and be more difficult to beat and the things that we need to tweak and how we can use our players in the best possible ways to win.

"It's still a huge marathon ahead of us.

"The encouragement comes from watching the team play, watching them behave every day and how hungry and willing they are to approach every training session.

"That's what gives me encouragement. What the others do is something that we cannot control."

More to come

Mohammed Kudus hints there is more to come from him despite a strong start to his career at West Ham.

The Ghana winger scored his fifth goal for the club during Sunday's 1-1 draw with Crystal Palace and is beginning to establish himself in East London.

He said: "It's credit to all the team, my team-mates, the staff, the player care, everyone around the club has helped me to settle in.

"I believe a lot in myself and I'm putting in the effort every single day to be the best I can be.

"It's still the beginning for me and I feel there's a lot more I can offer.

"I'll just keep working day in, day out to be the best for everyone."

In great Kompany

Burnley manager Vincent Kompany hailed his side's "incredible" mindset after they hammered relegation rivals Sheffield United 5-0 on Saturday.

The Clarets registered five different scorers and picked up their second Premier League win of the season.

Kompany admitted: "I said to the guys before the game I felt they were going to be celebrating on the day, and I felt they were going to be celebrating their effort, celebrating their mental strength and their determination in a tough time.

"I didn't know it before the game but I told them that. It can't be taken for granted, the amount of pressure on such a game.

"It was one of two games where people say we're maybe the favourites — every other game we're really not the favourites.

"On top of that, with the lack of winning and results, to start the game as they did and finish the game as they did, there was a lot of pressure.

"The mindset within the club to press the reset button and continue the hard work is incredible."

Former Premier League stars Troy Deeney and Jermain Defoe have teamed up again for a second series of their Defoe & Deeney Football Firsts podcast.

Available weekly on BBC Sounds, the 12-part programme will talk in detail about life at the top level.

Deeney, 35, said: "I'm very happy to pick up season two with Jermain. We enjoyed making the first series together and the amount of love we got just walking down the street from the public really drove us to continue the show.

"This new series will really take it up a level, revealing more stories you've never heard before, while being humorous and vulnerable at the same time."

Defoe, 41, added: "I've really enjoyed doing another a new series of Football Firsts with Troy and giving fans an insight into what it's really like being a professional player.

"It's been nostalgic talking about some of the firsts in this series and I can't wait for the listeners to hear them."

Euro excitement

Celtic captain Callum McGregor is excited at the prospect of opening Euro 2024 against Germany next year.

Scotland have been drawn in Group A alongside the hosts, Hungary and Switzerland — and it will be a tough task for The Tartan Army to progress.

McGregor, 30, said: "It was great watching the draw. We have three really good teams and it's a strong group.

"When you get to a tournament that's what you want to do. You want to be against the best teams and that's what we'll do in the opening game against Germany.

"It doesn't come much bigger than that as an occasion and everyone is looking forward to it.

"It's going to be such a brilliant occasion opening the whole tournament."
