What to look out for in the FA Cup semi-finals

There could be a monumental semi-final upset on the cards if second-tier Sheffield United are able to get the better of the Premier League champions, who have won the competition six times.

City will certainly not be underestimating their South Yorkshire opponents though, with Paul Heckingbottom’s men sitting second in the Championship and dumping out Tottenham on the road to the capital.

Though neighbours United also head into the semi-finals as favourites, their tie with seventh-placed Premier League side Brighton is a much more closely balanced affair.

The Seagulls have been outstanding this term and shocked the Red Devils with a 2-1 victory at Old Trafford at the start of the season in Erik ten Hag’s first game in charge.

How much do clubs get paid for appearing in the FA Cup semi-finals?

Losing semi-finalists will pocket £500,000 while the two teams to make the showpiece finale will earn £1million.

A further £1m is on offer for the side who wins the competition.
