David Moyes admitted his side "scraped" past Tottenham after a second-half comeback secured a 2-1 victory.

Jarrod Bowen and James Ward-Prowse overturned Cristian Romero's opener to condemn Spurs to their fourth defeat in five matches.

But Moyes insists his side did well to beat a quality outfit.

He said: "It was a huge performance because Tottenham are so good.

"I actually believe they are playing as well as any team in the Premier League at the moment. The football's very good and the manager's done a brilliant job.

"We were up against it tonight really. I don't know if we touched it for maybe eight or nine minutes at the start of the match.

"Thankfully we just about scraped it. A bit of old-fashioned desire and doing all the right things."

Moyes paid tribute to Bowen, who showed his versatility by starting the match on the right-hand side before switching to a central position and scoring the equaliser.

And the Scot believes his forward is beginning to get used to life as an out-and-out goalscorer.

He said: "We started him off the right because we wanted to be a bit more flexible.

"But Jarrod can get in behind and score goals. He's beginning to get that feeling that he wants to be a striker.

"I think when you start scoring goals you want the feeling to continue."

The Hammers are still alive in four competitions this season, with qualification for the Europa League knockout stages banked and a Carabao Cup quarter-final against Liverpool to come later this month.

And Moyes stressed he will need to use his squad carefully in the coming weeks.

He said: "Over the past couple of years, being in Europe, we've nearly always changed five or six players.

"Something in the psyche of Thursday to Sunday doesn't work and I think Brighton are finding that a little bit this year as well.

"I need to balance it and it's not easy because you need your best players to win.

"We're still giving it a go."
