Arc remains the target for Wonderful Tonight

Trainer David Menuisier says the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe at ParisLongchamp remains the target for Wonderful Tonight.

The filly won on her opening two starts of the season in the Group Two Hardwicke Stakes at Royal Ascot and the Lillie Langtry at Goodwood.

But she was beaten into fourth on her most recent appearance in last week's Yorkshire Oaks at the Ebor Festival.

Despite that setback, Menuisier was pleased with Wonderful Tonight's efforts on ground that was slightly firmer than they had anticipated and he insists all roads for the four-year-old still point to the Arc on October 3.

The Sussex trainer said: "She's absolutely fine. I am glad we went there, and I thought she had a good run.

"The Arc is still the target — more so than ever."

Connections targeting step up with Jumby

Connections have indicated there could be a step up to Pattern company for Jumby following a possible tilt at the Ayr Gold Cup next month.

Jumby claimed his second win from six starts this season when triumphing in the British Stallion Studs EBF Conditions Stakes at Salisbury on Tuesday and a run at Ayr could be his next port of call, although trainer Eve Johnson Houghton admits that will depend on conditions.

Houghton has also indicated a step up to Pattern company could soon follow for the promising three-year-old, who she also has high hopes for next season. 

She said: "He's in the Ayr Gold Cup, but it depends on the ground whether we go there or not.

"He'd be quite well in because I imagine the handicapper won't be kind after that, and then we'll have to go up to Pattern class.

"He'll stay in training for next year and I think he'll be a lovely horse for next season."

Dascombe eyeing another big win with Ever Given

Tom Dascombe expects Ever Given to be aimed at another big prize following his impressive victory at York's Ebor Festival last week.

The two-year-old had already won three times in what is his debut season before he claimed another success in the Goffs UK Premier Yearling Stakes on the Knavesmire.

That earned owners Dandy Boys — including former Premier League footballer Michael Own — a tidy purse and Dascombe has now revealed next month's Weatherbys Scientific £200,000 2-Y-O Stakes at Doncaster looks set to be the colt's next port of call.

Dascombe said: "He's in another sales race. It's a Weatherby's sales race at Doncaster on September 9. It would appear sensible to try to win some more decent prize money."

Mo Celita targeted at Abbaye

Trainer Adrian Nicholls has confirmed Mo Celita's main target for the season remains a run in the Qatar Prix de l'Abbaye at ParisLongchamp in October.

The three-year-old filly, who was only purchased by owners David Redvers and David Howden earlier this year, has won on six of her eight starts since April, including a Listed success at Deauville earlier this month.

Nicholls is now lining up runs in either the Group Three Qatar Prix du Petit Couvert at ParisLongchamp or the Arran Scottish Sprint EBF Fillies' Stakes at Ayr next month for the daughter of Camacho, although he admits the ultimate target remains the Abbaye.

He said: "She's in good form. She's come out of her Deauville race very well. I'm very happy with her.

"The long-term target at the moment is the Abbaye."
