There were never really any doubts which two players would end up in this year's Wimbledon men's final with top seed Alcaraz and second seed Djokovic having both eased through their respective semi-finals.

With finesse and an array of drop shots, Alcaraz breezed past Daniil Medvedev 6-3 6-3 6-3 last time out, setting up only his third ever meeting with Djokovic, who was similarly comfortable in his semi-final, beating Jannik Sinner 6-3 6-4 7-6.

Alcaraz's victory over Medvedev was his 46th tour-level win of the season and no player has won more matches on the tour in 2023.

Djokovic is on an eye-watering 34-match winning streak at Wimbledon, having won each of the last four men's singles titles at the All England Club.

The head-to-head record between these players stands at 1-1 with Djokovic having won the most recent meeting in the semi-finals of the French Open last month.

Spectators really could not have asked for a more eye-catching men's singles final than this.

There is so much riding on Sunday's battle on Centre Court with the winner set to secure the world number one spot, while a title for Djokovic would draw the Serbian level with Margaret Court on 24 Grand Slam singles titles.

Alcaraz has shown he can be a tough nut to crack and he continues to mature.

The 6-3 6-3 6-3 win over Medvedev last time out was breathtaking and the Spaniard has quashed suggestions he cannot compete on grass, winning his last 11 matches on the faster surface and taking the Queen's Club Championship title last month.

With 46 tour-level wins to his name in 2023, he is enjoying a terrific season but it is hard to oppose the experience of Djokovic, who has not lost on Centre Court since 2013 - when Alcaraz was only 10 years old.

The age gap between the players is the third largest in a men's final and Alcaraz struggled in their last meeting on the clay in Paris.

Beating Djokovic at Wimbledon is an even bigger ask and the Serbian should get the job done.

That does not mean it will not be competitive, though. Djokovic's clash with Hubert Hurkacz earlier in the tournament produced 48 games, while he lost his opening set against Andrey Rublev in the quarter-finals.
