- Cardiff are unbeaten in their last five home matches, winning four
- Bristol City have lost four of their last six Championship games
- Recommended bet: Cardiff to win

Cardiff host Bristol City on Saturday for a Severnside derby, where a win for the hosts could see them jump up to as high as third place in the Championship.

They will be confident of getting that victory too as their home form has been exceptional of late, winning four out of their last five at the Cardiff City Stadium.

Their visitors are currently sat in 13th place after taking just six points from their last six games and Nigel Pearson will be hoping his side can gain a win over their rivals and potentially kickstart their season, although that may be a tough ask.

Team news

Cardiff will continue to be without injured star-midfielder Aaron Ramsey for the visit of Bristol City, with former Robin Callum O’Dowda and young striker Kion Etete also sidelined.

The visitors find themselves in the midst of an injury crisis, especially at the back, as defenders Rob Atkinson, Zak Vyner, Kal Naismith, Ross McCrorie and George Tanner are all sidelined.

Typically, midfielder Andy King was injured when deputising at centre-back against Ipswich in the week, as was substitute left-back Haydon Roberts, meaning Pearson will have to put together a makeshift backline.

Forward Nakhi Wells is also set to miss out.

The stats

Cardiff are unbeaten in their last five home matches, winning four, while Bristol City have lost four of their last six Championship games.

Cardiff won this fixture 2-0 last season.

Three of the last four meetings between the sides have seen both teams receive at least two yellow cards.

Three of Bristol City’s last four away games have seen over 2.5 goals

Prediction

Cardiff have been in fantastic form at home lately and are unbeaten in their last five games at the Cardiff City Stadium, so should be confident of extending that run against rivals Bristol City in the Severnside Derby.

Erol Bulut’s side won four of those five games and got the better of the Robins at home last season, when winning 2-0 back in March.

Bristol have lost four of their last six Championship matches and head to Cardiff in the midst of an injury crisis, suggesting another defeat could be on the way for Pearson’s side.

The Robins arrive in South Wales with no less than six first-team defenders sidelined and their fragility at the back may show against a side who put four past Huddersfield in the week.

Cardiff know that a win could lift them into the Championship play-off places and, with that motivation, their fine form at home and the visitors' injury issues, the hosts look like a solid bet to take all three points on Saturday.
