- The Gunners have won 13 of their last 15 league matches at the Emirates
- Wolves conceded at least twice in 10 of final 14 league away games last season
- Recommended bet:
Over 3.5 goals

Having been Manchester City’s closest Premier League challengers in each of the last two seasons, Arsenal are expected to give the champions another run for their money this term and they start their campaign with what looks a straightforward home game against Wolves on Saturday.

The Gunners were solid at the Emirates last season and take on a Midlands outfit who have won on just one of their nine Premier League visits to the red half of north London.

Team news

Arsenal wing-backs Takehiro Tomiyasu and Kieran Tierney are ruled out, while Fabio Vieira and Jurrien Timber are doubtful.

Wolves midfielder Daniel Podence is struggling with a calf problem, but otherwise manager Gary O’Neil have no injury issues.

The stats

Arsenal have won their last six Premier League games, while Wolves have suffered six defeats in their last eight league outings.

There have been over 2.5 goals in four of Arsenal’s last five games and the Gunners have won 13 of their last 15 league matches at the Emirates.

Wolves conceded at least twice in 10 of their final 14 league away games of last season.

Skipper Martin Odegaard has been a key figure for Arsenal as they have chased the Premier League title.

Prediction

Wolves have won on their last three trips to the capital, at Tottenham, Chelsea and Brentford, but look to be up against it when they visit the Emirates, where Arsenal have won 13 of their last 15 league games.

The odds on an opening win for the Gunners are short, but there looks a strong chance there will be plenty of goals in this clash after Mikel Arteta’s side posted 48 in 19 league games on their own patch last term.

They will be unable to give any quarter if they are to take City all the way in the title race this term, so we can expect to see them hit the ground running and they should create plenty of opportunities.

Wolves had their issues defending on the road last season and kept their opponents below two goals in just four of their closing 14 games on their travels.

They made their mark in a 2-1 defeat at the Emirates last season when their hosts scored twice in the opening quarter of an hour and then took their foot off the gas, but they cannot expect their hosts to be as lenient this time.

When the Gunners get into their flow, they can be a sight to behold and, as nine of their 19 home matches featured at least four goals last term, there looks to be a decent chance that this clash can be another goal-laden encounter.
