Ange Postecoglou has played down Tottenham's Premier League title hopes but there is no denying the spectacular impact the Australian manager has had in north London.

Spurs have taken 26 points from a possible 30 under their new boss this term, beating Liverpool and Manchester United at home and claiming a thrilling 2-2 derby draw at Arsenal in September.

Monday's game against Chelsea is another crucial test for the Lilywhites as their London rivals are improving under Mauricio Pochettino, who is hoping for a happy return to his former club.

Team news

Tottenham have doubts over left-backs Destiny Udogie and Ben Davies, who both face fitness tests. Ivan Perisic, Ryan Sessegnon and Manor Solomon are sidelined.

Chelsea striker Armando Broja and winger Mykhailo Mudryk are fit again but the Blues are still missing the injured Trevoh Chalobah, Carney Chukwuemeka, Ben Chilwell, Wesley Fofana, Romeo Lavia and Christopher Nkunku.

Mauricio Pochettino is set to return to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium as opposition manager for the first time.

The stats

Tottenham have had three 2-1 wins and three 2-0 victories in the Premier League this season.

Spurs have scored 14 of their 22 goals in the second half of matches.

Publicidad

Tottenham have scored at least twice in nine of their 10 league games under Ange Postecoglou.

Chelsea have been level at half-time in all four of their league defeats this season.

The Blues have won only four of their last 18 Premier League away fixtures.

Chelsea have conceded only three first-half goals in 10 league games in 2023-24.

Prediction

Late drama has been a feature of Tottenham's success in the Premier League this season and that trend may well continue in their eagerly-anticipated clash with Chelsea on Monday.

Spurs have been drawing at half-time in four of their last five league wins, against Sheffield United, Liverpool, Luton and Crystal Palace, and their draws with Brentford and Arsenal were also all-square at the break.

Chelsea's performances have been better than their results under new boss Pochettino and they are unlikely to roll over at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, having conceded only three first-half goals all season.

However, Spurs are playing with great belief, especially in attack. The only game in which they failed to score at least twice was last month's 1-0 win at Luton, where they had Yves Bissouma sent off just before half-time, and they can take charge against Chelsea with another strong second-half display.
