Sheffield Wednesday to win

Sheffield Wednesday have picked up over the last month and they will be hoping to continue their solid run of form when they welcome Watford to Hillsborough for Championship action on Saturday.

The Owls have lost just one of their last six league matches, helping them climb to 13th position and confidence will be high heading into the visit of a Watford side that has struggled on the road.

Team news

Wednesday will be without Akin Famewo who is set for "months" on the sidelines due to an injury he sustained in the victory over Portsmouth on Friday.

The defender joins Ben Hamer, Nathaniel Chalobah and Michael Ihiekwe in the treatment room.

Watford are expected to have Mattie Pollock available despite the defender hearing a crack in his elbow in the win over Blackburn, but Angelo Ogbonna remains out with a hamstring problem.

The stats

Wednesday have collected 11 points from the last 18 on offer and have lost just one of their last six league fixtures.

The Owls have tasted defeat just twice from their last 10 Championship assignments at Hillsborough.

Publicidad

Watford sit outside of the play-off positions on goal difference and they did manage to pick up a 1-0 win over Blackburn at Vicarage Road last time out.

The Hornets have been woeful on the road though and have lost their last six away games in all competitions, scoring just three goals and conceding 15 times.

The last two meetings between these sides at Hillsborough have ended in 0-0 draws.

Prediction

Watford have been excellent at home, with 16 of their overall 19 points coming at Vicarage Road, but it has been a different story on the road and that away form may hurt them again on Saturday.

The Hornets edged past Millwall 3-2 in their first away match of the campaign, but have since suffered defeats to Sheffield United, Norwich, Man City, Preston, Luton and Leeds.

Promotion is unlikely to happen if Watford do not improve on their travels and a positive result looks unlikely when they head to Hillsborough to face Wednesday.

The Owls are clicking under head coach Danny Rohl after a slow start to the campaign and they pushed Premier League outfit Brentford all the way in the Carabao Cup on Wednesday, drawing 1-1 before losing on penalties.

Wednesday look more than capable of chalking up a fifth league win of the season and getting closer to the play-off positions.
