Our racing preview for Friday afternoon takes us to the outskirts of Edinburgh and picturesque Musselburgh, where they have a seven-race offering from 2pm through until 5.25pm to kick-start the weekend. 

A Class 2 Conditions race (2.35pm) and the Prestonpans Handicap (3.45pm) are among the features and we have picked out five horses to follow on the card. 

2pm - Forth 1's Boogie In The Morning Handicap (1m1f)

June's C&D winner CLAY REGAZZONI is worth chancing on his return to this venue.

Keith Dalgleish's charge added to his tally last month at Hamilton over a similar trip and was not really seen to best effect on his most recent start at Ayr as he was hampered just as things began to heat up.

With no obvious pace angles in this opener, he may well be able to dictate things in front and — in that scenario — has proved himself very effective this summer.

2.35pm - British EBF Conditions Stakes (5f)

Philip Makin's filly MYTILDA had some early promise back in the spring in novice events before a poor run at Chester in a maiden in June and being outclassed in the Newbury Super Sprint last month. 

She was an outsider over this C&D 12 days ago on handicap bow but improved in a first-time hood to score decisively. 

She is open to better still and just about edges out the likes of Lady Raeburn and Edward Cornelius for this 5f sprint.

3.10pm - Racing TV Portobello Cup Handicap (1m6f)

Scarcely more than a coat of paint separated Glasses Up (first) and Wise Eagle (second) over C&D 12 days ago, with Euro Implosion some way behind in third. 

The latter has won since at Hamilton and carries a penalty going back up in trip, while WISE EAGLE is a couple of pounds better off with his conqueror last time. 

Adam Nicol reaches for a pair of cheekpieces now and his 4YO can make it 3-4 at this distance in what has been a super time of it since joining this stable.

3.45pm - racingtv.com Prestonpans Handicap (5f)

Jabbarockie is 2-2 over C&D and returns to calmer waters having competed in a Group 2 when last seen in May. 

Mark Johnston's charge is a key player, as is recent Glorious Goodwood winner LORD RIDDIFORD. 

He had Sunday Sovereign well behind in fourth on the Sussex Downs and could be well treated under a penalty for this follow-up attempt given the degree of control he held at the line.

5.25pm - 100% RacingTV Profits Back To Racing Gullane Handicap (1m4½f)

G For Gabrial has twice gone close lately and should give another good account, while Dreams Unwind could leave a poor Newbury showing behind.

But 3YO filly HAIZOOM was a Sandown winner over 1m6f in June when trained by Marcus Tregoning and racing in the Shadwell colours. 

That was her first start in a handicap and she was game to win with an improved performance. She is 4lb higher having changed hands since but may have more to offer.
