- Leeds have conceded in each of their last 17 league matches
- Both teams have scored in all three of West Brom’s competitive games this season
- Recommended Bet: Both teams to score

Leeds still await their first win of the Championship season following on from last season’s Premier League relegation, and defensive flaws could be their undoing against West Brom.

Leeds started the season with a thrilling 2-2 draw at home to Cardiff, who had been two goals to the good at half-time, before suffering a 1-0 loss at Birmingham on Saturday.

In between those two games, Leeds were 2-1 winners in the EFL Cup when entertaining League One Shrewsbury, which further highlights that they are yet to put their best foot forward.

West Brom, meanwhile, responded well to their 2-1 loss at Blackburn on the opening day with a 3-2 victory at home to Swansea.

That was a much-needed confidence boost for the Baggies, who were also beaten 2-1 at Stoke in the opening round of the EFL Cup, and they will be looking to improve on last season’s ninth-placed finish.

Team news

Leeds are set to be without defender Liam Cooper again

Leeds captain Liam Cooper suffered an injury on the opening weekend of the season and is expected to miss out again, joining Stuart Dallas and Tyler Adams on the sidelines.

This match is also likely to come too soon for Patrick Bamford, Sam Greenwood and Junior Firpo.

For West Brom, Daryl Dike and Adam Reach are long-term absentees while Grady Diangana is also unlikely to feature.

The stats

Across this season and last, Leeds are without a clean sheet in 17 league games and both teams have scored in 14 of those games.

Both teams have also scored in Leeds’s last nine competitive games at Elland Road.

However, Leeds will be buoyed by the fact that they are unbeaten in five meetings with West Brom, having won four of those rivalries and scored at least three in three of those triumphs.

West Brom have also lost eight of their last 11 Championship away games.

The Baggies have seen both teams score in eight of their last 10 Championship encounters and they have failed to score only twice in their last 14 league outings.

Prediction

With 48 goals scored and 78 conceded, Leeds were one of the Premier League’s great entertainers last season and they were expected to make their presence felt on their Championship return.

It has been slow going for Leeds, who have taken only one point from their opening two assignments, and those defensive flaws that haunted them last season remain an issue.

Jack Harrison has been loaned to Everton and Luis Sinisterra is expected to soon move away, but in Crysencio Summerville, Daniel James and Joe Gelhardt, plenty of attacking talent remains in Leeds’ ranks.

Daniel Farke’s side should breach a West Brom side that have struggled on the road and have conceded six goals across their three competitive games.

Publicidad

However, keeping them at bay will be a difficult task as the Baggies have scored in each of those outings and have seen both teams score in eight of their last 10 Championship clashes.

West Brom were 3-2 winners at home to Swansea last weekend and Friday’s trip to Elland Road should be equally thrilling.
