Emotional release

Thomas Muller hailed interim Germany manager Rudi Voller after Tuesday's 2-1 friendly victory over France.

Voller stepped in after Hansi Flick was sacked over the weekend and made an immediate impact.

Muller, who scored the opener, said: "For us it was clear we'd be running a lot today.

"It was a crazy situation in the past three days. But congratulations to Rudi and his staff on how they dealt with it.

"We did what we had to, we worked hard and we were rewarded for it. We should not read too much into this win but for us it was a small emotional release."

Germany have already qualified for Euro 2024 as the host nation.

He said: "I went through a turbulent time in the last five months off the field. Now things are right at home.

"People who only had an eye on my money walked away from me. Now things will start to flow, I'm sure I'll get a good run at Tottenham and make things happen again.

"I'm going to go back to England and will seek psychological help, from a psychologist, to work on my mind. That's it, come back stronger.

"It's about getting a good streak at Tottenham. This week I'm going to sit down and talk to them."

Upon leaving the club, Verratti said: "I’ve been very proud to play for Paris Saint-Germain for over a decade, to rub shoulders with so many great players and to win 30 trophies.

"Paris, the club and its fans will always hold a very special place in my heart. I’ll forever be a Parisian."

And Fernandez explained afterwards how difficult the match had been, saying: "I'm a bit choked, the altitude feels a lot, but I adapted well.

Fernandez is in line to feature for Chelsea at Bournemouth on Sunday.

Gareth Bale is excited by Ange Postecoglou's Tottenham

Gareth Bale believes that Tottenham's attacking style under Ange Postecoglou is how the club's supporters want them to play.

Speaking during a Celebrity Pro-Am golf event at Wentworth, Bale said: "It's great to see, they've got the style back.

"I think that's something the club was looking for as well, seeing how he [Postecoglou] played at Celtic. There's still more to come from the team. Hopefully they can put themselves up there and give themselves a chance."

Satisfied Spalletti

Luciano Spalletti inspired Italy's 2-1 win over Ukraine

New Italy manager Luciano Spalletti believes that Italy's key Euro 2024 qualification victory over Ukraine on Tuesday should relieve the pressure on his side.
