Just like Jamie

Ben Chilwell reckons Chelsea new boy Nicolas Jackson is just like Leicester goal machine Jamie Vardy.

Jackson, 22, impressed during the Blues' pre-season tour of the United States after joining from Villarreal earlier this summer.

And Chilwell is confident his team-mate can hit the ground running in the Premier League this season.

He told talkSPORT: "It's a very different kind of centre forward to a lot you see nowadays, in a positive way.

"It's a nice surprise in a way to see a No9 that loves running in behind — it kind of takes me back to when I was at Leicester with Vards.

"It's definitely a strong attribute to have when you can do that and do that in a very threatening way."

Business as usual

Ange Postecoglou is braced for life without Tottenham talisman Harry Kane

Ange Postecoglou insists it will be business as usual at Tottenham if Harry Kane joins Bayern Munich.

Ahead of his side's first Premier League game of the season at Brentford on Sunday, the Spurs boss said: "We've been planning for this, it's fair to say, for a while.

"It doesn't take too much investigative work to realise this was going to happen.

"A lot of our business so far has been with this in mind. It doesn't change my plans dramatically.

"There's still movement in the squad and it's a big squad with players we need to move out. There are three or so weeks to go in the window.

"I had a conversation with Harry on day one and we were both up front. I got an indication there that if both clubs agreed he would go."

League will miss Harry

Erik ten Hag admits the Premier League will miss Harry Kane if he trades Tottenham for Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich.

Manhester United were linked with Kane, 30, earlier this summer before landing Rasmus Hojlund.

And Ten Hag, speaking ahead of his side's game with Wolves on Monday, said: "We have chosen a striker and we are really happy with our choice.

"But he [Kane] is a great striker. He has all the ability you want. He'll be a miss from the Premier League, absolutely."

We Vill give more

Unai Emery wants everyone at Aston Villa to demand more this season.

The Villans start their Premier League campaign with a trip to Newcastle tomorrow and will also be targeting progress in the Europa Conference League.

Having built solid foundations since his arrival at Villa Park in October 2022, which saw Villa finish seventh in the league last term, Emery is keen to kick on — despite having to do so without the injured Emi Buendia.

He said: "I want to be demanding with myself and with the club to be competitive.

"Of course, the Premier League is the most important competition for us. It is our first objective for everybody, to try to improve.

"It is going to be very difficult but we have to be very demanding."

Reece is a leader

Mauricio Pochettino is confident Reece James is the perfect choice as Chelsea captain.

Speaking head of his side's clash with Liverpool on Sunday, Poch said: "He's a player that is a leader. He's the present and he's going to be the future of the club.

"He's a perfect player for me and the club to be a captain."
