British rap sensation SONGER is confident that his beloved Chelsea can bounce back from a wretched 2022-23 campaign.

In an exclusive interview with LiveScore, the 22-year-old lyricist chats about his love affair with the beautiful game, a testing period for the Blues and his hopes for the future.

Love at first sight

My Dad was the man who got me into football. He took me to play from five or six years old and once you get the bug, it never leaves you.

When I was really little, we had season tickets at Reading for three or four years, but I quickly realised Chelsea were the team for me.

As a kid, Joe Cole was my idol.

Every time Joe got his haircut, I would get mine cut the same. I was a little weirdo like that!

SONGER admits Joe Cole is his favourite ever Chelsea player

But I just loved the way he played football. My Dad is a West Ham fan too, so we had this mutual love of him I suppose.

When we first won the Champions League in 2012, I was in year seven at school and I had a bet with my Dad that we would win it, before the group stage had even started.

He said if it happened, he'd give me £500 — and when they did, he stuck the money in a savings account for me to have when I turned 18!

SONGER's album 'SKALA' is available to buy and stream now. Check him out on Instagram and TikTok.

Tough times

I've got to admit though, last season was awful. Watching Chelsea was like a bushtucker trial!

I couldn't believe we sacked Thomas Tuchel, to be honest.

When he went and we brought Frank Lampard back to replace him, that was when things started making no sense to me.

To be fair, I'm not completely against Todd Boehly yet. He clearly knows what he wants to do and it's still early in terms of his time in charge.

SONGER was sad to see Thomas Tuchel exit Chelsea

But you have to say that the way he's gone about things so far has stunk the gaff out a little bit.

Hopefully, some of the new signings can hit the ground running next season. I like the look of Noni Madueke and Benoit Badiashile.

I'm not sold on Mykhailo Mudryk just yet but he's still got time to turn things around.

And Enzo Fernandez, wow. He's never going to flop, is he? You could put him in any team in the world and he'd ball out.

Poch's project

Mauricio Pochettino is the new man in charge at Chelsea

Being honest, Mauricio Pochettino was not my first choice for our new manager.

Publicidad

He's got that Spursy feel around him and I'm not actually sure how much he's really achieved, but now the deal's done I'll get right behind him.

I still think we desperately need a No9 for next season — and I'd go all out for Napoli striker Victor Osimhen.

We've already spent £600million, so why stop now?!

If we're offloading a few players to Saudi Arabia and Mateo Kovacic and Kai Havertz are going, I'd reinvest that money straight back into Osimhen.

Whoever we sign, I think winning the league is completely unrealistic next season. I see us finishing around fifth.

To be fair, I'd just take not being sucked into a relegation battle after the way we finished!
