The Championship continues in midweek, with eight games on Tuesday and four on Wednesday.

Cardiff will look to claim their first victory when Millwall come to town, while leaders West Brom are at home to Middlesbrough.

Burnley vs Plymouth (Tuesday, 7.45pm)

Burnley were frustrated by their 0-0 draw at Oxford but can bounce back against improving Plymouth. The Pilgrims have won two of their last three games, but both of those victories were at home and they have picked up just one point away from Home Park this season.

Score prediction: Burnley 2-0 Plymouth

Cardiff vs Millwall (Tuesday, 7.45pm)

Cardiff are still to win a Championship game this season and have also yet to appoint Erol Bulut’s permanent successor as manager following the Turkish coach’s sacking on September 22. Visitors Millwall beat Preston 3-1 on Saturday and can record another victory against a side who have failed to score in their last three at home.

Coventry vs Blackburn (Tuesday, 7.45pm)

Coventry were poor in their 3-0 defeat at Leeds and have failed to win any of their last five games in the Championship. In contrast, Blackburn are still unbeaten this season — beating QPR 2-0 on Saturday — and have kept clean sheets in their last three. That run might end, but not in defeat. 

Score prediction: Coventry 1-1 Blackburn

Luton vs Oxford (Tuesday, 7.45pm)

Luton’s two-game winning run was ended at Plymouth on Friday but they can respond here. Opponents Oxford managed to hold Burnley at the weekend but the Clarets had 14 shots and the Hatters may not be so profligate at Kenilworth Road.

Score prediction: Luton 2-0 Oxford

QPR vs Hull (Tuesday, 7.45pm)

Wins over Stoke and Cardiff hint that Hull are starting to find their feet under Tim Walter. The Tigers’ form is going in the opposite direction to QPR’s, who have failed to win their last four in all competitions and look vulnerable.

Sunderland vs Derby (Tuesday, 7.45pm)

Derby have won three victories at home but have still to pick up a point on the road. That is unlikely to change at Sunderland who have won all three of their home matches this season.

Norwich vs Leeds (Tuesday, 7.45pm)

Norwich have won three of their last four matches and can push Leeds who were excellent against Coventry. There were five goals in the Canaries’ triumphs over Watford and Derby and a high-scoring draw looks a likely outcome.

West Brom vs Middlesbrough (Tuesday, 8pm)

Leaders West Brom have won their last two at home 1-0 and can bounce back from Saturday’s defeat at Sheffield Wednesday against Middlesbrough. The Teessiders beat Stoke at the weekend but have lost two out of three away, failing to score in both of those, and may struggle at The Hawthorns.

Sheffield United vs Swansea (Wednesday, 7.45pm)

Sheffield United are unbeaten at home and have won their last two at home 1-0. After drawing 0-0 at Portsmouth on Saturday, the Blades have also had an extra day to prepare for this game against the Swans, who looked tired towards the end of Sunday's 1-1 draw with Bristol City.

Preston vs Watford (Wednesday, 7.45pm)

Preston have not lost in four at home in all competitions but lost at Millwall last time out. Opponents Watford snapped a four-game winless run in all competitions with their 2-1 victory over Sunderland and could strike again at Deepdale.

Stoke vs Portsmouth (Wednesday, 7.45pm)

New Stoke boss Narcis Pelach has lost his first two games in charge but Portsmouth’s visit to the Potteries provides a real opportunity. Pompey are still to win this season and look vulnerable.

Bristol City vs Sheffield Wednesday (Wednesday, 8pm)

Bristol City have collected seven points from their three home games in the Championship and can add to their tally against Sheffield Wednesday. The Owls beat West Brom on Saturday but have lost their three away games by an aggregate of 9-1.
