Barcelona are one of the most successful clubs in history with 27 LaLiga titles, five European crowns and a host of other major honours.

But while the Blaugrana have collected silverware and boasted some of the greatest footballers in history, several players have endured forgettable spells in Catalonia.

We take a look at 10 talents you may not remember donning the famous jersey.

Laurent Blanc (1996-97)

Laurent Blanc starred for the likes of Montpellier and Saint-Etienne during his distinguished career.

But it is often forgotten he spent the 1996-97 season at Barca, making 38 appearances in all competitions before joining Marseille.

Jari Litmanen (1999-2001)

Arguably Finland's greatest ever player, Jari Litmanen scored goals for fun during his seven-year spell at Ajax.

He did not enjoy the same level of success in LaLiga, though, tallying just three goals in 21 matches.

Emmanuel Petit (2000-01)

Emmanuel Petit was a key figure for France and Arsenal in the late 1990s, even scoring in the 1998 World Cup final.

His status earned him a move to Barca but the Frenchman spent just one season at the club before joining Chelsea.

The goalkeeper played 49 games before a permanent switch to Villarreal two years later.

Juan Roman Riquelme (2002-05)

Heralded by many as one of the great playmakers of the modern era, Juan Roman Riquelme's stint at Barca was perhaps the least memorable of his career.

The Argentine joined from Boca Juniors but failed to click with then manager Louis van Gaal, which saw him loaned to Villarreal for two years before he permanently joined the Yellow Submarine.

Ricardo Quaresma (2003-04)

Ricardo Quaresma's sole season at the Camp Nou after joining from Sporting was pretty chaotic.

The Portuguese winger started just 10 times in LaLiga and then announced his refusal to play for the club under Frank Rjikaard's rule, which saw him sold to Porto.

Rustu Recber (2003-06)

A year after helping Turkiye reach the World Cup semi-finals, goalkeeper Rustu Recber joined Barca.

However, reported issues over the fact he did not speak Spanish saw Victor Valdes preferred between the sticks, resulting in him re-joining Fenerbahce on loan in August 2004 after making just seven appearances.

Alex Song (2012-16)

After establishing himself as a crucial cog in Arsene Wenger's Arsenal midfield, Alex Song earned a surprise move to Barca.

The switch did not work out for the Cameroonian, though, with two loan spells at West Ham followed by a departure to Rubin Kazan.

Thomas Vermaelen (2014-19)

After suffering with numerous injuries at Arsenal, Thomas Vermaelen decided to give Spain a try — where fitness issues sadly continued to plague the centre-back.

The Belgian was restricted to just 53 appearances in all competitions, spending the 2016-17 campaign on loan at Roma.

Lucas Digne (2016-18)
